SOIL STORIES

A SUPPER INVITING YOU TO CONSIDER THE CONNECTION BETWEEN DELICIOUS FOOD AND HOW IT’S GROWN

WHAT: Soil is alive. Beneath our feet, it breathes, decomposes, and nourishes the world around us, yet too often it is treated as an afterthought. Soil Stories is a supper event inviting you to enjoy a delicious meal and consider how the flavour and nutritional value of the food we eat is influenced by the system in which it is produced.

Over four thoughtful courses crafted with ingredients from producers working in harmony with their ecosystems, and interactive elements including an olive oil tasting led by Sarah Vachon, co-founder of Citizens of Soil, food will be both subject and medium. This meal is a conversation, a moment for connection, and a reminder that what we eat is inseparable from how it’s grown and that soil, when we pay attention, has a lot to say.

WHO: This event will be hosted and cooked for by me, Allegra D’Agostini. After studying biology and ecosystem health in university, I begin cooking in professional kitchens, including multiple Michelin star restaurants, in Canada and Europe. I spent three years as the chef of a boutique hotel in Greece and most recently have been baking at Violet Cakes in Hackney.

I will be hosting Soil Stories with the generous support of Citizens of Soil (IG), Natoora, and Vincenzo’s.
